Spam! September 20, 2007

Posted by Joe in blogging, blogs, spam, WordPress.

What’s with all the spam all over WordPress all of a sudden? Trying to surf around the blogs here and find something interesting to read and write about and sometimes more than half of the blogs are long lists of links to other blogs or what sound to be porn or other sex related nonsense.

I have reported some of them as spam, but I can’t report them all. I’m being drowned in spam! Help!

I suggest you get Google Reader and register to RSS feeds. I now have over 125 feeds and can’t keep up on my reading on a daily basis.

I tried Google reader once, but was not thrilled. I can’t recall why. I may try it again. I’ve been sticking with WordPress blogs mostly because I like to comment a lot, but I hate having to fill in email and URL and all that to do it. WordPress already know who I am so it makes it much easier.

Thanks for the tip though. I will check out Google reader again tomorrow.

Have you turned on your Akismet plug-in? That stops 99% of all the spam I get on my WP blogs.

That’s for comment spam, right? I am referring to tag surfing spam.
