I do something similar in yesterday's post on The Weekly Rader, where I read the State of the Union speech as though it were a student paper. As a professor of writing and a media critic, I was eager to "read" his speech as though it were a student paper. For me, I found the text lacked an original thesis and any specific details to support the rather vague assertions it tries to make.
